New Student Orientation
Orientation is required of all new students and is part of standard admission processes. For Golden Gate, this first experience is a vital key to success and students find the fellowship, instruction and spirit of the orientation experience extremely helpful toward integration into the seminary community. New students meet their seminary administration and faculty, as well as other new students, and receive essential information concerning degree/courses, registration, various student services, academics, policies, personnel, seminary life, and general seminary policies/procedures. This event also serves to assist new families in familiarity with important area resources.
New Student Orientation provides the platform for three other essential elements necessary to complete official enrollment.
First, orientation involves an evaluation of English/Language Proficiency for graduate-level academic performance.
Second, orientation involves understanding of the nature/character of Christian leadership in ministry through the submission of the Golden Gate Ethical Conduct Standard agreement.
And thirdly, orientation provides an avenue for familiarity with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Cooperative Program which funds much of actual educational expense for all students. Therefore, incoming students receive all necessary materials required to complete the new Cooperative Program Course.
Attendance is not required of transfer students from other SBC seminaries, or from other GGBTS Regional Campuses; however, even transfer students find the information extremely valuable, as each SBC school operates differently.
