Intercampus (ICL), Bookbag, and Interlibrary Loans (ILL)
Intercampus loan (ICL)
Patrons may request materials including print journal articles (delivered as pdf files via e-mail) from other GGBTS campus libraries using the Intercampus Loan service, or ICL.
You need to be logged into your account before searching and placing requests. To log into your account, click on
My Account. Type in your library ID number and last name, then click Login. After logging into your account, search and chose an item in the catalog, and click on the
Request button. Please make sure the item you are requesting is not available in your regional branch. Only one request per title is needed.
Multiple concurrent requests for the same title may result in the loss of library privileges.
The
Request button is a drop down menu. Please click on the arrow and select ICL. Make sure to note the copy number of the item you have chosen (for example, c. 2) and fill out the ICL form, then click
Submit Request. Delivery time is 7-14 days. Notification is sent by e-mail.
Patrons are allowed five ICL requests per library business day. This means that if you were to place five requests Saturday at 11:00p, you will not be able to place any on Sunday or even early Monday. You may only place more when the libraries open Monday and start filling those requests.
Unlike the Hold function at your local campus library, the ICL service allows students to reserve and receive books shipped from other GGBTS campus libraries.
For questions about accessing this service, please email or call the NCC Circulation Desk (415-380-1660), or call your regional campus library.
Bookbag
Bookbag requests are for students requesting books to be shipped to their home. This service is reserved for students who live more than
100 miles from a GGBTS campus and who are not on a physical campus on a regular basis (
at least twice a month). If you regularly commute to a physical campus, use the ICL service above to request books from other campus’s libraries.
The library will ship books, but not media items or non-circulating items such as Reference or Limited Access books. Materials will only be mailed to locations within the United States including Alaska and Hawaii.
Fill your Bookbag with the items desired. On the email form make sure to fill in the following areas. In the subject area, put "Bookbag Request." In the body text area make sure to include your name, mailing address and a written request for the items to be mailed to you.
Without this identifying material, the library is unable to fultill your request. E-mail the items in the bookbag to yourself and the library where most of your requested items are located. This e-mail will most commonly go to the NCC circulation desk: circulation@
ggbts.edu.
The library mails the books to you free of charge. You, however, are responsible for the return of the items to the GGBTS library. Make sure to track the package in case of lost mail. Patrons are responsible for items being overdue or lost fines/fees until they are received at any GGBTS library.
This is a privilege and courtesy the Library extends. The Library retains the right to refuse this service to anyone. An exception to this policy is granted on a case-by-case basis. If you have questions, please contact your local library.
For questions about accessing this service, please e-mail (
Circulation@ggbts.edu) or call the NCC Circulation Desk (415-380-1660), or call your regional campus librarian.
Interlibrary loan (ILL)
Patrons may request materials including print journal articles (delivered as pdfs via e-mail or hardcopy) outside of the GGBTS campus library system by using the Interlibrary Loan, or ILL.
Throughout the library paid databases, you will see the
360 link to full text. This button allows you to check all the GGBTS collection before submitting an ILL request. If the requested material cannot be located in the GGBTS library system, click on the
Request this item through interlibrary loan button. Fill out the form and click on submit.
There is no cost to GGBTS students or faculty to use the ILL service. Books and hardcopy articles from other libraries are requested and shipped to the GGBTS Library within two to three weeks. If articles are coming via e-mail, they usually are processed in 7-10 days. If you are located at a Regional Campus, the material will be shipped to that campus for pickup.
For questions about accessing this service, please contact the reference librarian or your regional campus library. You may also e-mail
